I agree with you on character-bashing. But I've seen people in fandom claim that being less interested in female characters (without bashing them in any way) is also misogyny. And that's bullshit. Some people prefer to focus on characters they also find attractive, in addition to finding them interesting. Nothing's wrong with that.

This. In one of my main fandoms the majority of the squee is generally focused on the (admittedly) hot guys, and because of that there are some people who claim that we're all misogynists because of it. How about: NO. Of course we're going to focus on the guys as the majority of the fandom consists of heterosexual women! People generally focus on what they're most attracted to, no?

As long as there's no uncalled for bashing going on, I don't see the problem with this. I remember a few secrets ago some user was bitching because some people excluded Natasha from their all-male fanart drawings of the Avengers cast, and I was seriously like WTF? People can freaking draw, write, and squee about whatever the hell they want. Jeezus.

Talking about me! =D

Seriously, sorry about my "bitching," but if you draw the guys of the Avengers and call it the Avengers cast, I'm going to be a bit peeved. If you call it the men of the Avengers, or something like that it'll be better. Don't ignore the existence of a female cast member. Draw whatever the hell you want, and this might just be semantics, but at least say it's the Guys of the Avengers or whatever.

Yeah, this.

I personally like to think of it as a representation of proportional awesomeness power. The guys are all roughly the same, and Black Widow is the universe that eclipses them all, and is thus unable to be contained within the paltry limits of the compositional picture plane. ;}
