yeah excluding pumba from here is pretty misleading and without him it makes it more difficult to realize how the artist was interpreting the anthropomorphization

it's kind of obvious they weren't thinking about race considering everyone's skin color and hair color matches the color palette they're given in the movie

it's a pretty easy transition considering everyone in the picture (and pumba) have fur colors that can also be skin colors -- simba has light skin because he has light fur and there's no evidence that the reasoning digs deeper than that

Lots of humanized Kovu/Kiara has him black and her white under that very premise.

Yeah, that'S why I don't get it. I like pugletto's interpretation more, but these have the same color palette as lions when the artist drew them human.
