ARE YOU ME? I THINK YOU ARE. I THINK I DIED IN THE FUTURE AND WAS REINCARNATED AS YOU AND THEN YOU TIME TRAVELLED TO THE PAST AND MADE THIS SECRET WITH ALL OF MY FEELINGS IN IT AND ILU SO MUCH FOR IT BRB PREPARING FOR MY INEVITABLE DEATH SO THE REINCARNATION PROCESS CAN BEGIN
Ahem.
Um, yeah, totally agree with all of this. Sherlock BBC has a smug, arrogant tone to its writing that I don't like, Cumberbatch's Holmes is an unlikeably cold bastard, John is totally a simpering doormat, Moriarty's an annoying caricature and the female characters are either all marginalised, mocked, villainised or badly written. Sometimes all at once. (Lestrade and Mycroft are wondrous though, I will give them that, and they are the main reason I will be probably be watching season 3.)
Elementary on the other hand has clever writing in an understated way and also has engaging season long plotting - but more than that it has amazing character development. Love love love. I think you could argue forever back and forth about which is the better adaptation of the books (I know where I stand, but that's besides the point) - but I just think at the end of the day Elementary is a better show.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)oh my! thank you
i wanted to poke a bit of fun at how serious people can be about fandom... it's like they consider you're "breaking up with the show" if you stop liking it.
i was also trying to articulate the reasons why i "fell out of love" with the show.
