Elementary really does have more in common with some of the more popular fanon iterations of Sherlock than Sherlock itself! It's not to my taste, but judging from what you say here you'll probably enjoy Elementary a lot more than you did Sherlock. I hope you enjoy your new fandom!

Personally, I love Sherlock (definitely including Irene!) though yeah, parts of TBB had some serious problems.

I like both Sherlock, Elementary and the other versions of Sherlock Holmes. They're all interesting interpretations of Sir Arthur's work, and have their high and low points.

I'll admit, I was starting to the feel the same. Not with liking Elementary more, I'm still kind of 'meh' on that, though it is enjoyable.

I understand the feeling OP but all the self-righteousness of people over the BBC Sherlock show is getting annoying. Let's be real, half of the people who say that will be crawling back to it once season 3 starts. Not saying that it applies to you OP, but this is how I feel about a lot of people who echo what you're saying. Especially with this insistance on fandom monogamy.
Elementary is really cute though. Not IMO the best written show ever but you're right on the money with Liu!Watson being less of a doormat and JLM!Sherlock being less of an asshole, and it's a refreshing new start.

I've given up on lots of shows I was pretty damn invested in (Bones, Criminal Minds, Merlin) but I never needed to write a self-indulgent letter explaining my decision; it's a few hours of entertainment, not a serious decision. You aren't putting a child up for an adoption or signing a peace treaty.
