I've never been able to take The Lion King seriously, because lions are just too non-European for a story based on Shakespeare. They should have made it a movie about a wolf pack in Denmark.

Wolf packs aren't ruled by a "wolf king". Zoologist have long proven in behaviour studies that "the alpha male" doesn't exist in wild wolf packs.
Wolves aren't associated with royalty and shit either.

Don't get me wrong, I can't take The Lionking seriously either, but Disney also made a yankee dog and cat version of Oliver Twist, so why care?
Or is that silly, too, because it should have been about British water birds? ;)

i can't take it seriously because at the beginning it shows elephants bowing down to lions. In the real world an elephant can kill a lion with one good hit with its trunk.

Ahahaha! When I was a kid I was always confused by that.
"Why would an elephant submit to a lion? They could just sit on them"
