The face-stretcher in Star Trek: Insurrection turned me off of Star Trek for life. It was my first ever exposure to anything Star Trek. I don't remember how old I was, maybe 5 or 6 years. It creeped me out. Looking back now, it's crappy CGI is apparent, but to my 6 year old self in the late 90s that was disturbing as hell. I've never had anything to do with it since. :/

Fortunately, I was already a dyed-in-the-wool Trekkie by the time I saw ST:Insurrection, because if I hadn't been, that film would have turned me off it too. So so boring.

Anyway, sorry it scared you. As a young'un, I was scarred by the transporter scene in ST:The Motion Picture.
