They wouldn't be as annoying if they only appeared every so often instead of every year. I wish they'd take at least a year off for other villains, even if Moffat has to bring back some of the classic villains (much to his chagrin).

I agree. I wouldn't mind them so much if they only appeared once in a while per season. As it is, their frequency is what makes them so irritating.

A few years ago the apartment building I used to live in had this massive roach infestation. We kept on bringing in pest control/exterminators, but the roaches kept coming back (I eventually had to move because it was so gross).

The Daleks remind me a lot of those roaches.

The contract the BBC has with the Terry nation estate says they have to have an appearance every season (no matter how minor) otherwise the BBC lose the rights.

If only any of the appearances were minor....

I agree, using them less would be helpful. I still like the Daleks but how well they come off is entirely dependent on the episode.

For me it's the cybermen that are boring, they don't annoy me but I rarely love a cybermen episode.

Yeah, they really did not have to appear in the Manhattan episode or Journey's End (WHAT WAS WRONG WITH JUST DAVROS), and Victory of the Daleks was just a glorified toy commercial for iDalek figures.

Yeah. How about we try some different old enemies for a change?

Personally, I'd like to see the Black Guardian come back. As the embodiment of chaos and entropy, the Time War ought to have bulked him up some, and he's still carrying one hell of a grudge.

Or the chronovores. They're both morally ambiguous and eat time, so they might be fun. The Fehndahleen, either, if the Time War broke the lesser time loop on Planet 5.

Or the Rani, if we wanted something a little more personal. Anyone trying to convince me the Rani got coopted into the Time War without managing a way to sneak back out of it will have a hard time.

If we're going to pick old enemies of the Doctor, there are options, is my point. He's made about a gazillion enemies over the years. We're not liable to run out of old grudges any time soon.

This. I am still really disappointed there is NO REBOOT RANI. COME ON NOW, SERIOUSLY.

In a way, they suffer from the same problem as the Borg on Star Trek (especially Voyager). They were supposed to be the most dangerous enemy OF ALL, EVER, but that got increasingly hard to believe as they kept showing up and kept being beaten, again and again.
