To use an example, after Columbine, it was discovered that the shooters listened to, among other things, Rammstein and KMFDM, both German bands. Now, there was a lot of moralizing about the bands they listened to--all "devil music" as my folks would say--but it was assumed that because Rammstein and KMFDM were German, that they must be Nazis. This happens pretty much after every school shooting because the demographic most tied to school shootings is also associated with industrial, metal, shock rock, etc.
