Responding anonymously to not possibly out the secreter who might probably be who I think it is!

And if I am right, you can take some comfort in the fact that I don't think anyone was after you in particular. And, even if I'm not right? That's very possibly the case. RPs, like any social structure, have their do's and don't's, their in's and out's. It's unfortunate, but it's just a fact that in no place is everyone going to get along perfectly, and as soon as someone doesn't get along perfectly, sides are formed.

Actually, this was used as an example in a creative writing class of mine once. If you have two people dialoging, A and B, and they are fighting, they are enemies and it's all clear cut. But as soon as you throw in a third person? There are sides. It could be person C is an authority figure or a bully, and suddenly A and B, who still don't like each other, still like each other more than either likes C... And thus you have a clique! JUST LIKE THAT.

They aren't really bad things, people talk about them being bad things because in highschool everyone had that ONE GROUP of crappy people. They tend to not realize they themselve are also in a clique. It never seems as restrictive when you're on the inside. It's also entirely possible to not realize you've been included into a group that shuns others, or that others shun! Cuz any semi-decent RP is going to be Mostly Nice most of the time! And if people like you? They're going to still like you even if you're hanging out with people they don't like. At least, hopefully. And if you said "I want to play with everyone"? I doubt anyone was mad at you for that, cuz it's a nice thing to say. It just means there were pre-existing issues you maybe weren't aware of. And if you're a nice, sensative person who pays attention to what others thing (as you seem to be, judging by the secret?) then maybe you weren't aware because the issues weren't really ABOUT YOU, you just opened up the gates for others to bring up their problems with this clique.

And well! Obviously this is pretty well focused on my idea of who/what this is so if that's just, random babbling, I apologize. I hope you work it out anyway. If not? Don't quit, don't feel unwelcome unless anyone actually told you to GTFO. We've all been in a situation where we felt targetted by an issue we weren't aware of that apparently others had been and just NEVER SAID ANYTHING. And it sucks, but all that means is that there is misunderstandings involved, stuff to talked about, understood, and put behind you. Don't quit if you're still having fun.

I'm not sure why it would be better if people just didn't care about my feelings, than if they actively disliked me.

It's moot in any case. Nobody posts something positive and gets something negative like that unless they are disliked. Nobody gets dogpiled like that unless they are unwelcome.

Otherwise, someone would step up and say: this is not appropriate. Otherwise, the original criticizer would have realized it was not appropriate.

Different anon from the above, and also not sure if you are who I think you are, but this most likely applies whether you are or not.

Anyway, the way I see it, if it were true that people hated you and wanted you gone, there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place. Because if people really didn't want you around, no one would care that you seemed to be playing primarily with a certain group of people. It's because people like you and the rest of the group and want to play with you that the issue arose -- otherwise, we'd all just say "oh, these people suck, but they only play with each other anyway so we can just ignore them." I could be wrong -- I wasn't one of the critics and I can't claim to know what was going through their minds at the time -- but that's how it seems to me, at least.

I would be willing to accept that if you could find me someone--anyone--in the RP who has played with more people than I did.

Most of the reason I feel unwelcome still is that I can't even talk about this without hurting feelings/starting drama. Forgive me for being wanky here, I am going to stop replying.

...looking back on the thread, it seems a lot less harsh than I remember.

Just ignore me. This wouldn't have been posted at all if I had the sense not to use tinypic.
