Yesterday 31 kids died in a bombing in Syria... of course that's not in America and nobody gives and shit

What was stopping you from making a thread about it yesterday, hmm?

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
That it wasn't covered in any news channel or online paper I watch/read, so I only found out today via twitter. Now, however, I'm being bombarded by this news everywhere (yes, that's a pun)

So instead of making a thread to draw attention to this one disaster, you choose to whine in another thread in which people are sending well wishes to anyone affected by this other disaster, because bawwwww America.

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
And it's wrong that it wasn't covered. However, it's also wrong of you to make an issue out of it in a thread about another bombing simply because said bombing happened in America.

Either human lives matter, or they don't.

I actually had someone tell me I shouldn't be posting things on Tumblr because it's insensitive. Apparently when bombs go off in America the world must stop.

When bombs go off in your country, in a place where people you love happen to live, and you spend your afternoon hoping that they're okay because cell service has been shut down so you're having trouble reaching them, I hope you post here so that I can blithely say, "oh, so since your country was bombed, I guess the world should stop."

Fuck you people. Seriously. You don't actually give a shit about kids dying in Syria (which they actually do every day, because the country is in a fucking civil war. Tens of thousands of people have died there over the past year and a half, but you only care now because it's something you can contrast with the coverage of today's bombing). What you give a shit about is the fact that anything bad that happens in America is an annoyance to you.

And a hearty fuck you to you too.

nayrt

Looks like you missed the point completely: bombings are bad no matter where they are.

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
and that person who told you that is an asshole

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Then making a separate thread about that and stop being an asshole.

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure Syrians and other people with loved ones there do. I'm sure they give way more of a shit about it than about Boston, as they have every right, seeing as it's where they live.

Funny enough, though, there appear to be more people in Fandom Secrets with strong ties to America (be it through living there, knowing people there over the internet) than to Syria.

Why don't you go upthread and tell greenvelvetcake that she shouldn't be upset because worse things have happened elsewhere? C'mon, edgy internet tough guy, I dare you.

Re: Bostom Marathon Bombing

People tend to be interested in news that relates to them. This is not a new phenomenon.

Stop. They're both horrible tragedies and trying to start wank about one country or another is a valid response to neither.
