(Anonymous) 2013-04-16 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)Dirk is super manipulative, even of his close friends, confident to the point of arrogant about his own abilities, and frankly is pretty self-centered.
Dave is a guy who's kind of an attention whore and spends more time keeping up the appearance of a funny coolkid than being honest about his feelings. Keeping up the appearance entails making shitty jokes and being generally a douche.
Whichever one you like best depends on your own personal perspective, but don't try to pretend one of them is way better than the other. They're very different characters.

Unfortunately, while knowing is half the battle, he seems to lack the wherewithal to change, which is the other half.
