I have it on DVR but haven't watched it yet. Is there a reason there are lots of spiky mountains around St. Louis now? THIS IS WHAT HAS BEEN MAKING ME THE MOST APPREHENSIVE.

Inadvertent terraforming! The alien ships were shot down/sabotaged down to the earth, and the terraforming machinery started acting in an uncontrolled manner, meaning spiky mountains, and these things called Hellbugs that are awesome (OK OK I have a warped sense of awesome). The spiky mountains do play an important part in the major climactic battle in the pilot, though.

CRANK THAT DVR UP BB!! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! :-D

I don't do live action TV shows (barring a very small handful of execeptions), but you had me at 'Rockne S. O'Bannon', 'eight alien races' and 'two fully developed alien languages'.

IKR??? This is seriously the first show I've been totally sucked into, and excited about/looking forward to watching, IN YEARS. I AM SO HAPPY I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO TELL YOU, F!S. XD

Yeah, it is. And looking at my TiVo schedule for it, the pilot (cleverly titled "Pilot") is showing a shitload more times (seriously, there's nearly 20 more). So anyone who missed it; you should be able to find another showing to watch and/or record.

They came up with that terraforming stuff just so they could hand-wave it looking TOTALLY LIKE VANCOUVER, right?!

I wasn't sure about it (I'm watching so many things already and it looks a bit 'meh' from commercials imo) but I did DVR it 'just in case', so I guess I should give it a shot. I'm glad you liked it anon!

I'm actually glad I liked it, too! Been a long long long time since I got really sucked in to a TV show. The world-building in this one absolutely does not disappoint. (Well, duh, of course it doesn't LOL.)

YES! I found myself really enjoying it!! Whooo! I love the languages, that's so cool. I had to give in and read the Wiki entry, though - I wanted to know *more*. They've really fleshed out the different races and put some thought into them! It's awesome.
