If Blade Runner has a fandom that lasted past the 1990s, I haven't seen it. And I'm more than happy to keep it that way.

I'd say it still ranks in the top 10 of worshiped science fiction films.

Seriously, Blade Runner is almost the lingua franca for science fiction cinema after "George Lucas couldn't direct his way out of a paper bag with the prequel trilogy." It's the point around which near-future dystopian PDK mindfucks revolve, in the same way that The Man With No Name became the Western singularity that Eastwood spent an entire career trying to match. It set the absurdly high expectations that were dashed with Prometheus. It's a sure-fire conversation starter.

It's also almost entirely forgotten among the current generation of fans. It has no real fandom to speak of and most people I ask these days have never even heard of it.
