A fandom trend you don't get?

Because I don't get fanmixes. I'm confused by them, especially for games where they tend to already come with a themetune.

It makes sense if you think of them as fanart applied to music.

They're really easy to make, so you don't have to be talented or original to participate in fandom.

...no, really, that's it. There's nothing wrong with that and I'm not judging, but it's true. There's less true creative power put into them.

And it's a way of sharing mp3s without being blatantly piratey! Or at least, I have the impression that that train of thought is kind of attached to them. "It's not like I'm just uploading a bunch of mp3s! I'm uploading a fanwork, it's totally legit." Maybe.

But, for the question, sprite recolors seem pretty dumb for the to me.

I've never been one for fanfiction for the most part, either, but I understand the appeal.

I don't really get some of the weird fandom injokes that seem to spawn on tumblr.

Like "JAWN" and "jam" for the Sherlock fandom.

There's probably some other fandoms that have stuff like this, but I can't recall them at the moment.

That Alpha/Beta/Omega trope. I understand it in, for example, the Teen Wolf fandom (and other such fandoms where werewolves are actually canon), but I just don't get the obsession with this.

I can't say I like it, either. Tbh, it just seems like a really good excuse to write/draw ships in a stereotypical super toppy-top/uber bottomy-bottom way. It squicks the hell out of me, at any rate. Too reminiscent of D/s.

Thinking fanfic/art is the alpha/omega of fandom.
