I kinda ship them but I'm tired of them being a side-pairing in so many fics too.

Still, that's not nearly as annoying to me than when every single character in the fic seems to be paired off with someone. (I might stop reading one of my favorites for this very reason. I'm not sure I like one side-pairing in that fic and they keep getting more and more attention.)

Oh well. *shrugs* I'm behind on Hobbit fic right now anyway.

I'm not an avid shipper but I read it, mostly because I want more fic and gen is rather rare.

Gen feels impossible in this fandom. Sure it exists, but there's so little of it. You were the Hobbit anon who wanted Fili & Kili brotherly fic, right? I'd kill for more of that!

(Actually, I think I was more interested in Fili/Kili as a pairing at the very beginning of the fandom. Then I started seeing it everywhere and went, "Oh...this again.")

IDK how I haven't gotten tired of Bagginshield. (Probably because I skip over so many of them on a regular basis.)

This is one of the mods, and she puts up roundups--and there are sections devoted soley to General fics. She doesn't read all of them so I can't say if they are truly gen, but they are labeled gen by the writers.

The kink meme...right. Well if it's there that would explain it! (I haven't visited in a long time. It moved too fast for me and I found A03 easier to navigate, so I stuck to that.)

Oh, that annoys me too. My ships aren't always the most popular ones, so I'm always glad to find fic for them, but way too often there's random side pairings in there to hook everyone up, and that does nothing for me. I started reading a long WIP for one rare pairing, and I was enjoying it, but now that it's way into the story (with no end in sight) there's two more pairings that have been thrown in there and I'm not into either of them. It's sad to give up on it after sticking with it for so long, but I also don't like being expected to accept all these other pairings while the one I was there for in the first place gets overshadowed.

I totally understand. If it's a rare pairing that makes it even more frustrating. :(

For me the later the side-pairings appear the more annoying. If there's proper build up then it isn't always so hard to accept (even if I'm not into the pairing), but if not? Ho boy do I hate it.

I wish more pairings were listed in the tags, but I suppose some authors don't always know what direction they want the story to take so it isn't always possible.

I am getting a bit tired of every other fic having Dwalin/Ori as a side pairing. It's kinda cute, but I personally prefer Dwalin/Nori more (I got reading Axe and Dirty Deeds and am firmly a shipper now).

Me too. (About Dwalin/Ori. I haven't read any Dwalin/Nori yet. It's hard to catch up with some of the Hobbit fics because they're so long.) I still remember the first Dwalin/Ori fic I read actually; I rather liked it and it was unexpected. However like Kili/Fili it started showing up everywhere and now I'm irritated by it.
