So, Superdickery? (I'd link to the actual site, but apparently it's now infested with malware, so have this as a replacement.)

Really?! Oh no! I loved that site. I hope it can be de-wormed.

Its back up folks.

With you there. It is endemic in theater trailers right now. I've given up going to the theater because I don't feel like handing over 20 bucks for a movie which is probably going to be the opposite of what is shown in the trailers. Stop cramming crappy "twists" down our throats with misleading bullshit!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I hate it even more when, instead of misleading twists in trailers, they essentially show you the plot twists and spoil the movie before you go.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
No, that would be better. That is what trailers are for, to tell you what the movie is about so you can decide whether or not to go see it. A bunch of unrelated scenes which just show off the effects work or flat out deceive you as to what the movie is about to preserve "the twist" might be okay for giving fans the happy feels, but is useless or worse than useless for the average undecided viewer.

That's usually because the thing they were advertising is usually to awesome to write an actual coherent story about.

Like this ER promo parody. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcJcnnqeEv8

I watch a lot of procedurals, so there are a lot of red herring suspects or murder theories, which I expect. But damn if it doesn't annoy me when the red herring, which is usually dropped, is more interesting than the actual story. Like, seriously, writers, you came up with this really interesting story and then you dropped it - why would you do that? All I can think is that no one could come up with a good ending.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't surprise me if that was it, or they like...wrote themselves into some kind of corner when they tried writing it as the full story, so the made it a red herring.

Like when Tim Drake appeared on the cover of one of the Night of Owls crossovers and then didn't appear in the comic!?!?!?!?!

For some reason, the first thing that comes to mind was when Justice League Lost ended with the characters deciding to reform the Justice League International. And there was much rejoicing and fans awaited gleefully their chance to see all these old friends getting together and just barely not killing each other and old times and new times and bwa-ha-ha...

And the the nu52 happened, and it turned out that the Justice League International we got as some milquetoast little blah of a comic with absolutely no humor, little in the way of dynamic (or recognizable) characters and, well...it was disappointing.

SUPER late to the party, but YES. Dear Lord, DC, why?! To quote Tinny Tim "You raised my hopes and dashed them most expertly, sir."

Also, your icon makes me happy every time I see it. Hey, remember when Ted Kord was awesome, but then he died and that was sad, but then we got Jaime who was awesome?
...I miss them both. (New52 Blue Beetle was just disappointing...)
