That's not what "comment whore" means. It's a joke. Though "comment slut" would be more accurate.

Yeah. my understanding if those is someone who "panders" to the audience and will write generic fic for popular ships in big fandoms to get comments. (Same type who hold updates hostage til they get a certain number of warm fuzzies.)

Not quite the same as people who put effort into their craft and write for fandoms that inspire them (no matter how tiny).
