It's not that they're a bad friend for not following. It's that they're a bad friend for refusing to try their new interest, resenting said new interest for existing, and then bitching on the internet about it while still doing nothing.

If her friends were that important and the only thing that was different was the fandom, OP could have made some sort of effort. It's a really obvious solution.

I have an irrational hatred for fandoms that have drawn people away from my favorite. So no, I'd never even think of looking at them. My blood pressure wouldn't take it.

Eh. If it's not for you, it's not for you. Your friends have the right to move on if they feel like, though.

I guess just a mutual parting of ways.

Haha what are you, 12?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Grannie Fan here.

How have you survived for so long if you're that stupid?

Christ. What the hell kind of person says to themselves, "I know this hatred is completely irrational, but I'm going to do nothing to change it. Instead, I'm going to continue to blame the thing that I've already acknowledged has nothing to do with my problems."

(Anonymous) 2013-04-19 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Okay? Let it go, then. If you have such shaky blood pressure in the first place, maybe you shouldn't actively hate on those fandoms either. It's better for you, I promise.

so would they still be a good friend if they refused to try a new interest but didn't resent it or bitch about it?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-20 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Friends can like different things.
