I don't think anyone ever said OP should leave their fandom. Fandom isn't a physical place. You don't have to leave one to enter another.

I wouldn't call OP a "bad friend." But if OP is upset because their friends are all excited about a new something and OP isn't even willing to try that something and then feels left out...well, that doesn't make them a bad friend, but not even being willing to spend a couple of hours trying something is kind of their fault. It's an easy enough fix, or it would've been. (I imagine at this point, OP's worked up a nice, healthy blame of Avengers, so trying it would just be bitter and constantly filled with hypercritical thoughts of "They left me for this." And that's no way to watch a movie. Even Casablanca would suck under those conditions.)
