The first is that "they always have a story where the white dude saves the day"; the second is that "they always tell the same story." What I'm saying is that I'd love to see more characters of color and more women and more interesting main characters in sci-fi flicks, but I'd also like to see more sci-fi flicks that aren't just the same story regurgitated over and over with slightly different visuals, and hence with nothing really going on other than visuals.
