Question about the master/slave dynamic

If Lucretia was a rapist for having sex with Crixus, was Crassus a rapist when he had sex with Kore?

I don't watch the show but probably. If he/she only consented because of his/her position did not allow her/him not to or obviously did not consent and was forced, it is rape.

Hoooo boy, the Crassus/Kore thing is different, I think, because she clearly had some sort of romantic attachment to him. Or then again, maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome. The master/slave dynamics make it fucked to begin with, and they DO put the whole Crassus/Kore dynamic on the border of Rape Town, but I feel like I sensed tenderness and affection on her part toward him.

Fucked if I know, though.

Agreed, while she still didn't have the ability to truly consent, it was heavily implied that, had she been free, she still would have given enthusiastic consent, which puts their relationship in a...lighter shade of grey on the specturm? With Lucretia and Crixus, it was very clear from the start that, had he the freedom to choose, he never would have consented. Both are still rapey, due to the slave/master dynamic, but they were definitely painting with a spectrum there.

I'd say yes. Just because their relationship had clearly developed into something that had a great deal of love and affection in it over the years doesn't mean that he didn't have incredible power to control her body. Hence the ending episodes where he can bring her back in the fold and require that she call him Dominous -- at every moment he had the power to make her do that, to give away her body to his guests, to station her at the villa instead of taking her back to Rome, etc. Just because their relationship had tenderness in it didn't negate the power dynamic that he had literally over her life and death...
