Re: How do you deal with anxiety?

I find Mindfulness techniques really useful for my anxiety, especially when I know the anxiety I'm experiencing isn't based on an immediate concern but rather is my mind being used to worrying about something, which sounds a bit like what you're experiencing. This seems like a good site to explain the basics of what Mindfulness is and how you can use it, but it's basically about being able to step back from your thoughts and realise they are something that happens because of how your brain currently works, not because they're are things you shold be worrying about. I find the process of realising that the fact that you over-worry isn't actually a cause of worry in itself immensely helpful personally.

Otherwise, I try to have a go to thought to derail my anxious thoughts, like thinking of something I'm looking forward to doing in the future, or something fandom related, which especially helps when I'm trying to go to sleep. You could expand this into a routine, like if you can't go to sleep because of anxiety you could get up, walk around a bit, make yourself a glass of warm milk or even have a warm shower or bath, whatever works for you, then try going back to sleep with a calming thought in mind.
