But I guess to sort of answer your question it isn't in terms of a physical thing (though injuries sustained during a rape can be a whole new kind of horrifying) as much as it is mental. For a lot of people physical pain is easier to process and cope with than mental pain.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-20 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)i don't really know what flipped the switch for me, but if bates motel really did do a good job of it, i think that would be a good thing for people who don't "get it" to watch then, since most media really does conflate it with 'just sex', or uses it for edgy shock value that works to desensitize
