They started out great with Under The Hood. But then some writers didn't like the idea of fans actually agreeing with a morally gray character, so they turned him EEEEEEVIL. Because apparently moral ambiguity can't exist in one of the 'grittiest' superhero comic books around.
The next thing? The New DC Universe. It's a somewhat controversial idea, but it could have worked if they neatly streamlined everything. But they didn't. The timeline is all over the place, characters cease to exist, character development is undone and relationships are unraveled. They wanted to make things easier on new fans, but apparently fuck you old fans!
