Mathematics is one of my greatest passions, and I find exclamation marks used to signify a quality of a character/an object cute.

I personally feel that every part of language, either spoken or written, deserves to exist. Obscene words, deliberately wrong spelling, tHIS st ??yLe, everything. Language is a structure which is in constant development and constant motion. Some people will always dislike some of its parts; but it doesn't make them bad or useless.

IMO, of course. And you're entitled to your preferences. I can only express my sympathies in regards to the fact that you constantly encounter something you hate so much.

I like this post.

I dislike most text speak but the way people go on about how it's destroying language, it's like they don't realize that language is ever changing. We don't speak the same way people did 100 years ago and people won't speak the same way we do 100 years from now.

I mean, I can't say I 100% agree with "every form of language should exist" (more like 95%, I guess), but YES, I think some people - especially certain people in fandom - really need this hammered into their brain. Language is constantly evolving, it doesn't really ever stay the same, and people all use language differently, always.
