I've been sporked before. They talked a lot about how awful a person I was and how I should just die. I know I didn't have to read their comments, but I still couldn't help but feel less than comfortable about how all those people were saying those things about me.

I'm sorry that they said all of that. It's one thing to make fun of fic but it's another to ask someone to kill themselves.

...unless you're one of those people in fandom who's a dick that requires everyone to pay attention to them, causes drama and then wants everyone to stick up for them for it. Then I have no sympathy.

Ugh. That happened to a friend of mine - she has no idea, but they paint her as some hoity-toity bitch who was full of herself when really, she was just insecure and admittedly writing self-inserts who were her with special powers. Sure, she desperately needed a beta, but she's not a horrible person. Seriously. And another friend of mine found a picture of a BNF who'd written a bad fic and said "she's so fat she's probably going to die young." Yeah, we don't talk anymore.

But I think those people are more vile than the type of stuff OP is talking about. I think.

I can't speak for anyone else but I would never personally insult the author (and probably not say anything about mary Sue fics at all - I actually like OCs and don't want to discourage them, and realize most Sue authors are just kids trying to find their footing.)

This is why I added that tiny note at the end, yeah :(
