Another thing to add - I always assume they travel more than what we see on the show. So they do have the boring sight-seeing trips, but they're not as interesting, so why show them to us?

Yeah, they even mention having a lot more adventures than the ones that are seen. Like Rose talking about that planet where the sea flash-froze during a storm in "Boom Town", or a whole lot of season 7A.
