The problem is that a lot of snarkers don't just snark on their own space, they harrass the author and anyone who dares contradict them. They're full of themselves, you can't like what they don't like no matter how legitimate your reason and they'll throw you insults if you do.

I think it depends..some of the 'Sues' community people were actually quite lovely. I got some nice criticism from the Phantom Sues mod, and the PotterSues mod actually stated a dislike for flaming which I respect highly (flaming makes things worse and actually causes writers to become defensive. If you approach everyone like an asshole first off you'll never know some of the young writers who can be reasonable if you are with them). She also seemed to be nice to authors who were a good sport about the sporks.

So it really depends on which blogs...some people-yeah they just start picking a fics and thinking they're a born critic. If you're pointing out flaws in the story -that's cool. If you're joking about how the author is a dumbass and should have never been born? Fuck you times a thousand.

Yeah I'm not okay with any of that, hence my clarifying it at the end

OH MAN THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS

yeah...some of the meaner ones...well let's just say as a person who liked writing with OCs I always felt there was a big target on my back because if some ametuer sporker decided your OC was a "Mary Sue" they would let you have it.

I honestly just felt that if you wanna laugh about it with your friends sure whatever. But if you got up in the authors face and gave them a hard time...um hello that's really uncalled for. Back when I was writing fic in high school, I got teased enough by RL people and fanfiction was my escape. I didn't need someone coming in there and going "LOL you're such an illiterate piece of shit"
