I miss it on some level, but I don't miss the ad hominem that often came with the snark. Also, it bothered me when the writers were obviously twelve year old girls - come on, you have nothing better to do than make fun of preteens when you're at least a decade older? But I miss the fact that you could talk about bad fanfics and snark a little, and that was even encouraged. I went to a forum that made fun of a lot of fanfic cliches (without naming names), and even though I knew I'd done a lot of those things, it actually helped me improve.
