God THIS. I'm a huge Aeris fan, but what they did to her in the compilation? SMH. They stripped her of her original character, and part of me will still be bitter over it.

She was my favorite in FFVII...

Hate how in the spinoffs they make her so cutesy, shy and innocent, or serene and angelic. "I'm afraid of the sky", plus the angel symbolism... smh!

I know, right? Someone involved with the compilations described her as having "the innocence of a child". And I'm just like, "ARE WE EVEN TALKING ABOUT THE SAME WOMAN HERE?" Aeris threatened to rip off someone's dick. That's not childlike innocence. And it's also why I loved Aeris from FFVII, because she was a deconstruction of the healer girl archetype. You'd expect the healer girl in a Final Fantasy game to be the chaste, shy, moe-like character. But once you got to know Aeris you realized she was an independent, flirtatious woman who loved to troll and had a much more worldly view about things.

EXACTLY THIS! Aeris was a troll and a flirt. There was nothing childish or innocent about her - who the hell said that? Though to be honest, I've heard the original writer doesn't do the spinoffs, so we've got people writing Aeris to fit in with their own interpretation, which apparently ended at "she wears a pink dress". Aeris had a lot of depth, and how she acted around everyone is a complete stranger to how she is portrayed in the spinoffs. It's really unbelievable, and disappointing, because Aeris was my favorite character, too.

(part of the reason I always say Aeris, too, is that now I associate "Aerith" with the character of the spinoffs... not my Aeris!)
