I read basically the entirety of the Whovian sexual frustration blog today even though I'm a very casual fan, not a hardcore one, and...uh...it's really kind of awkward when everyone is drooling over a guy who is actually not hot at all. I don't mean it's impossible to find him attractive, 'cause he's very nice-looking and his character has quite a commanding presence, but...the creepy worshipful fantasies are really weird to read about a guy who in no universe is hot.

Oh boy another thread about whether sexual attractiveness is objective or subjective. I'm sure this thread will be interesting and not literally exact the same as every previous thread on the topic.

What i find hot, you might not find hot etc. Yawn. Seriously f!s how many times have we had this conversation?

I will never find Matt Smith attractive and this is 50% of the reason I can't watch the Eleventh Doctor. Like, every time I see a picture of him, I just...blech.

Um...seriously? You can't watch a guy because he's not hot? That's kind of disgusting.

It's really not. This isn't about finding someone hot in real life; it's about watching hours and hours of face closeups and focusing on someone you don't want to watch. "Ugly" actors could be passed in the street and no one would give a damn, but after twenty hours of watching them talk, it's a bit much.

AYRT No. I watch plenty of shows with guys I don't find attractive. I didn't find the Ninth Doctor attractive but I loved him (and the show). I don't find Sam Winchester attractive but I still watch Supernatural.

As I said 50% of the reason is because he is horribly unattractive to me. 5% is because I will never be over Ten.

45% is because EVERYTHING I have seen online about Eleven just looks awful to me. The Ponds look awful, River looks awful, the Daleks and Angels look awful. The writing looks awful. The way the Doctor seems to be played as goofy as possible looks awful to me.

So no, I am not going to suffer through watching his awful face to watch a show that I have no interest in.

This is just my interpretation of course. Maybe some people enjoy the show. I tried, but sorry I can't.

DA - If I'm watching a show for entertainment, part of that entertainment is liking what I'm seeing. In shows with a central character, I want to be able to find that character at least somewhat attractive. I can ignore this rather easily if I'm interested in the plot/story, but since I can't with Eleven's run, his overall...weirdness just makes the show that much more unwatchable. So sue me.

I have trouble watching Eleven's episodes because of him, too. It isn't just that I don't find him attractive, it's that he is one of the most repulsive people on TV and close-ups of his face make me feel ill.

AYRT, ME TOO! God, just...the angles of his face. ugh.

I think the fact that an unmaimed person's face can make you feel ill is a pretty telltale sign that you're a horrible human being.

No, he's not. He's just not hot. Calling him deformed is offensive to people who have legit facial deformities.

But honestly, it's fine if you don't find him attractive. Some people will though. (I kinda do tbh. I think he has an unusual face but I like it. *shrugs*)
