They're still making new installments to that movie series, though -- so you're definitely not "too late for the fandom". If anything, the new movie is bound to bring in some new blood who's dying for fanworks!

I really need to have F&F day where I watch all the movies- like I did with the Saw series. I love Vin Diesel and homoeroticism. Why haven't I watched this yet?

Skip Tokyo Drift unless you want to laugh at how awful it is. Vin has a little cameo at the end and Han pops up in 5, but you don't need Tokyo Drift for it all to make sense.

they totally retconned Tokyo Drift, supposedly its now considered to be set in some ambiguious future point after 4, 5, and 6 (and however many more they make in the future...)

I actually had fun watching the FatF movies in a marathon a while back. :) Definitely do it some day :D

I love Dom/Brian and would be lying if I said they weren't part of the reason I enjoy the films so much. (Though Roman/Brian were awesome together as well.) There's some great fic for this pairing so I don't find it odd that it grew on you.

Thanks for the secret OP! I haven't read new F&F fic in years and now I'm tempted to do so. (As well as reread a few favorites.)

Really, honestly, I don't think the fandom is going to go away any time soon what with the sixth(!) movie coming out at the end of May. Also, I don't know what happened with khaleesian's site, but if you can find her fic elsewhere, I'd really recommend it.

First: I think I like your brain. :) (Seriously, pay attention to it, it has good taste.)

Second: It's definitely not "too late".

Third: I'm not in this fandom, but I like the movies (Tokyo Drift? What? o.O There's no such a thing.), and I occasionally stumble upon fic (usually I catch up a bit once a year, for maybe a month, and re-read some old favourites, then I let it go), and I really think this fandom is exceptional regarding overall fic-quality.
