"grammar"

As a linguist, I really should know well that words can have a range of meanings, and different people will use them in different ways. But... but it's different when it's my fields' terms that are being used in a way I don't like! (no it's not i'm just a hypocrite) (but seriously it really bothers me that so many people don't understand what grammar is)

No, I totally get it. I'm always irritated when people say "grammar" and mean "orthography". But the secret actually specifies that they're good at "grammar and spelling", which, if they meant orthographical rules, would've been tautological.

I know that feeling, OP. I first saw that style when I started following a fairly famous blog in my fandom and for a while I couldn't stop typing that way.

Dunno what this is, but it seems like it's normal to pick up on writing styles of things you read.

Yeah, I mean, it's fine to adopt new orthographic rules, even where they're much more 'liquid' than serve a fixed constant.

That said, I can't ever see writing sentences like that except in an attempt to express extreme duress???

I've had to unfollow a couple of people who insisted on expressing themselves like that nearly 100% of the time; I mean, I can't blame them, but those are some seriously mixed signals.
