Ok, OP, I'll admit that at first I was like "oh no not another 'Tumblr sucks!' secret," but I actually really agree with what you're saying here.

I think it's really important to lurk a bit first, too. Otherwise, you don't know basic fandom etiquette like lj-cuts and warning for spoilers. And I really notice that the people on Tumblr seem to not know any of that. Spoilers are posted without a hint of a cut (yeah, I'm a spoilerphobe and yeah, I'm mad) and just other little things that are annoying.

Tumblr does make it easier to just jump in and start posting things, but sometimes I think that's a bad thing, too. And I also agree that the average age on Tumblr is really young. Nothing wrong with teenagers per se, just...I was a teenager like 8 years ago and I never realized how much I've changed since then. And, my main beef with Tumblr fans, at least in my fandoms, isn't their actual age...it's how young they seem. A lot of them seem to openly admit not watching the episodes of a show before declaring "OTP FOREVER AND EVER!" and it's just - annoying.

So, basically, I hear you, OP.
