I have yet to meet a single fan, female, virgin, married, and so on that didn't think this was hilarious. Sounds like you have a case of the "omg why aren't there more people like meeeeee" that's making you resent fandom.

FInding it hilarious and recognizing that Pod is a nerdboy delusion-fulfillment character are not mutually exclusive. In fact, that is where I feel the hilarity comes from.

Not always, but in this case most people are amused because it was unexpacted, not because they desperately desire to be Pod.

I thought this scene was terrible. It dragged on way too long and for the writers to claim they don't ~have enough time~ to include all of the plotlines from the book (ie, the stuff with Ser Dontos, why introduce him and then just...drop the entire subplot, making Littlefinger look like more of an idiot in the process) and yet include this 8 minute (including the extension of the "joke" into the fourth episode was just annoying.

There's plenty of ways to make Pod slightly relevant that don't require 7-minute scenes about him losing his virginity. I mean, he follows Tyrion around literally EVERYWHERE, we can grow to care about him that way. It's enough for other minor relevant characters (ie, Gendry, Osha, Jorah) and we could easily grow to care about him DURING his journey with Brienne. tl;DR but that scene was way OTT and unnecessary.

I was trying to figure out the plotline and that the gold was given to Pod (then on to Tyrion) from the prostitutes who were acting as an intermediary for some unknown character who is going to be much more important/already important but spinning his/her own machinations, etc.

Ugh. So it was basically a way to get some limber T&A on the screen, then add a juvenile joke? Because really, you're paying for a prostitute's time more than anything. Even if they'd been pleasured out of their minds, they're still taking the fucking money because they have their own stuff to pay for, too.

While funny, it was obnoxious to waste so much time on a teenage fanboy fantasy. I guess something has to counterbalance how badass the women are in this season.

Seven minutes total on a single scene of no importance when the show typically spends seven minutes covering an entire character's POV chapter...

Seven minutes is a lot when you have that much important material to cover and actual main characters who could use some more characterization and development. And maybe the show fans liked it, but pretty much every book fan was just annoyed that yet another pointless scene took time away from the stuff they WANTED to see on the show.

I know they were going for humor, but I think they failed. It's the same humor that appeals to young boys type that's in the rest of the show--crass, low brow and not actually all that funny. It just made me roll my eyes.
