FInding it hilarious and recognizing that Pod is a nerdboy delusion-fulfillment character are not mutually exclusive. In fact, that is where I feel the hilarity comes from.

I thought this scene was terrible. It dragged on way too long and for the writers to claim they don't ~have enough time~ to include all of the plotlines from the book (ie, the stuff with Ser Dontos, why introduce him and then just...drop the entire subplot, making Littlefinger look like more of an idiot in the process) and yet include this 8 minute (including the extension of the "joke" into the fourth episode was just annoying.

There's plenty of ways to make Pod slightly relevant that don't require 7-minute scenes about him losing his virginity. I mean, he follows Tyrion around literally EVERYWHERE, we can grow to care about him that way. It's enough for other minor relevant characters (ie, Gendry, Osha, Jorah) and we could easily grow to care about him DURING his journey with Brienne. tl;DR but that scene was way OTT and unnecessary.

(And yes, I know that it wasn't REALLY "so much", but imo any time at all was too much time when we have so many other storylines going on that are actually relevent.)

Is that Pod? I mean... I don't think he's the type of self-insert most people would write, in that people frequently comment on how nervous and shy he is. He does occasionally do awesome shit, like saving Tyrion, but he's not a flashy or "shameless pandering" character for "fanboys". There are plenty of those in the story without having a completely unremarkable squire to Tyrion (who isn't actually a knight who can teach the kid to fight, so essentially a servant)

I think his supposed sexual prowess is some kind of... game or conspiracy or something. I can't take the plot thread of Pod being a sexual prodigy at face value.

He's cute as hell though.

You have no idea how pissed off I was at this pointless little plot thread. Podrick Payne is like, barely a fucking character, yeah he saves Tyrion -- that's like all he ever does (SO FAR, DON'T SPOIL THE MOST RECENT TWO BOOKS FOR ME OK). Also, isn't he like, pretty fucking young in the books? I thought he was maybe like 13 years old

It was mildly funny to begin with, more Tyrion & Bronn's reactions to begin with, although it required far too much suspension of belief.

The problem is that it dragged on way too long, including into another episode, & there are so many more important characters & moments that deserve just those few minutes.

Of course, I think D&D tend to linger on events/characters more so than they should *cough* Ros *cough*.

Besides the fact that it's hilarious (especially the scene after with Tyrion and Bronn), I actually think it's refreshing that this pudgy, average-looking, slightly clumsy boy manages to be both Tyrion's savior and some sort of sexual prodigy.

Honestly it's what like GoT for: the fact that characters can be so multi-faceted and aren't always what they seem.

Okay, I haven't seen this season yet, but I recall that in the books, Tyrion has used the whorehouse as a cover for other things, so I think it's possible that this is in the same vein. Pod's running errands for Tyrion and the brothel's just a cover. Or is that impossible?
