(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)Grimmjow and Envy (that is the Brotherhood anime version right?) aren't all that surprising to feel empathy for. Grimmjow fought hard to become the best, to be the king others expected of him. He had a whole character arc of going from bloodthirsty Espada to sympathetic anti-hero, and it looks like he may be returning to fight on Ichigo's side soon. Envy was lonely and wanted the sincere love he never received.
They're both violent and villains for the most part, but they do have their relateable traits - it's what makes them good characters.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)It's not just that I find them relatable, it's that I find them to be MORE relatable than ALL THE OTHER CHARACTERS. As in, I feel for Envy waaaaay more than I feel for Ed, Al, etc. D:

(Anonymous) 2013-04-24 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)Well, Ed and Al have an almost hyper-emotionality to them. They can be a little too intense about everything - morals, brotherhood, family, alchemy.
Maybe Envy is more relateable to you for keeping a lot of things back for the most part, and, warped as they are, his other traits are understandable. He has issues with his father and a grudge against a guy he feels betrayed him - there's probably more, but it's been awhile for me.
