Oh god, I LOVE PRETEND DATING FIC. It's so ridiculous half the time, but it just hits all the right buttons for me. That and accidental marriage.

I tell everyone I actually hate accidental marriage because of ~issues~ and stuff but gdi if I don't melt over fics like that they just get so cute sometimes

It's one of those things that when it's done badly I just cringe because it's really bad and can be kind of skeevy, but I think that makes it that much better when it's actually good. And I agree that they can be super duper cute.

Pretty much what it sounds like! Two characters pretending to be dating, for whatever reason. The first example that comes to my mind is an old Smallville fic -- Clark needed to pretend to be gay for an article he was writing, and Lex volunteered to act as his boyfriend. Of course, they were both secretly in love with each other...

I used to use pretend dating in my fics. I think I made myself sick of it. :)

I can rarely stop myself from reading pretend dating fic. Even if I suspect the story is going to be horrible I'll at least start reading it and see how it goes.
