I hadn't heard about this potential storyline. Now that I know it, I'm reasonably offended and a bit sad, since I like a lot of Whedon's work.

Thing is, I still like it, because I think he writes entertaining, emotionally effective television. And I still appreciate the fact that regardless of the problematic ideas he's had from time to time, Joss Whedon created some of the first female characters that let me, as a female, finally think "oh hey, maybe women can be interesting and likable people too."
