I don't ship it myself but yeah it is kind of a dick move to dismiss her opinions because she's a teenage girl. And she's 17 years old so she's old enough to be able to make a opinion on something.

Didn't she comment that shed heard of it and answered she was happy for the fans or something, then SanSan shippers blew it way out of proportion?

In any case, I think GRRM himself likes these kinds if pairings, if the fact his favorite relationship is Dany and Drogo is any indication.

No? What happened was on Facebook she commented on a Sansan fan art and said that she loved it and then on the DVD commentary she gave a shout out to "Sansan lovers".

That sounds a heck of a lot like blowing something out of proportion. The secret implies she's a fan.

She said she loves the relationship and finds it beautiful? That she considers Sandor to be Sansa's knight in shining armor?

How does that not indicate that she likes the relationship?

Definitely. Much of Sansa's arc just seems like an excuse for him to beat off to the idea of innocent Sansa with much older men.

+1 to this.

I cannot stand the number of little girl/middle-aged man pairings there are in the series. I side-eye GRRM really hard over this, especially when they're presented romantically... I get it happens, and some people are into that, but it seems like there are such huge age gaps between so many popular pairings in the series. the pairings I see flaunted around the most are the biggest may/decembers and it creeps me out to the point of disgust in some cases, even if it's just mostly fanon (Sansan, any of Dany's men, Petyr/Sansa, etc). Not to mention the huge power imbalances in many of them as well.

He also called Dany "hawt" and proclaimed he'd rather meet her than any other of his characters, so yeah, it's clearly author appeal and Martin being a creep.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-28 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah GRRM doesn't even hide his ephebophilia

Tbh, in general I find it weird that whether or not the actor ships something is such a big deal?

Idk.

I don't really care what Sophie thinks about SanSan. She can love it and think it's beautiful.

I still think it's creepy as fuck.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
This.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess lots of people value the actor's opinion about pairings so much because of "character motivation" and stuff like that. They hope that when the actor ships it, they will insert small hints and stuff in their acting.

The funny thing is if an actor would openly hate on a certain pairing, the fans would still continue shipping and be like "well, what does he/she know?!" X)

(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Rory McCann (Sandor) pretty much said that he's uncomfortable with the idea of there being a romance between Sandor and Sansa and that hasn't changed anything with the fans?

Am I the only one for whom this secret looks like an old tv with bad reception? Like, I can guess at a couple words, but it's pretty much illegible.

Dude, practically no one does that. Mainly because no one but the die-hard SanSans think that a few nods to her fanbase count as making her a fan of it.

Yeahhhhh this. Actors and actresses giving shout-outs to ships and ship fanworks is becoming increasingly more common. It doesn't mean they omg love the pairing.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-28 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Sophie said she doesn't ship them but she does find the relationship to be "beautiful" and said that Sandor was the knight that Sansa was always dreaming about. So she's definitely a fan even if she views the relationship as being platonic.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-28 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
It's happened on FandomSecrets numerous times. I seem to recall you suggesting that she didn't know better because she was young.

Sorry, I'm still in the "hasn't been proven to ship it" camp, followed by the "it's in her best interest to pander to her fans" category. You gotta prove she actually ships it before it's worth addressing.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-28 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
"she's just pandering to the fans" is right up there with "she's a teenager"

(Anonymous) 2013-04-28 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it is. "She's a teenager" is "she's immature, she doesn't know what she's saying, her opinion doesn't matter". "She's just pandering to the fans" is "she's using this as a marketing opportunity, as is totally normal in show biz, and this should not be taken as evidence of her real opinion".

Boiled down to the harshest interpretations, it's calling someone (temporarily) stupid vs. calling someone a (tactical) liar.
