I remember reading a Ron/Hermione fic back in the day that paused the action halfway through to have Hermione (apparently a die-hard, evangelical Christian in her spare time) stop and pray for an end to abortion.

Funny how I must have missed Hermione's deeply-held beliefs on the matter in the actual books, because to me it seemed just a tad out of character.

This shit happens a lot in R/Hr fic, I think! (Or maybe that's just the pairing I've OTP-ed enough to desperately read badfic I wouldn't brave in another pairing.) I have read so many fics where Hermione not only changes her last name to Weasley but swoons about how happy she is to be "Mrs. Weasley" now.

WHAT.

At most, I could imagine Hermione hyphenating.

Maybe not as controversial as abortion, but.

I dunno a plot where Hermione is a fierce Christian could work, it could be called "Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Serial Killer. You know, for when Hermione finally snaps and starts getting to work on that "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" thing. That would be a good fic. You could even keep the centaur rape in, since it is Hermione's thing.
