I do this too, and even on a much more petty scale. For example, in a fic I recently read, an OC started to randomly talk about how much they like Coldplay and how great they are, and suddenly all the other characters became Coldplay fans too, for not particular reason or connection to the plot.

I can't read this fic anymore, and I think it's still going on. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh god that sounds painful. And I must agree. I have gotten really annoyed when this one author made her OC obviously listen same music she did and tried to praise it at every turn. It was just... ughh.

Ahaha! This happens to me about music in fics all the time! Sometimes even if I like the band, if it's too OOC or obscurely subcultural or disrupts the flow of the story too much, I get annoyed.
