(Anonymous) 2013-04-27 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)But presuming you're moving on a shoestring budget with no job lined up: If you're currently renting a place, best practice is to wait until a couple/few months before your lease is out and then arrange to not renew it and set a cut-off date for any utilities you pay. Pack the clothes and things you MUST take; pack the rest of the things you want to take that will fit in your vehicle; sell, give away or trash the rest, and drive.
When you get somewhere, spend a night or two in a fleabag motel (or find a restop or someplace you can sleep in your car) and start looking in the paper/on craigslist/through neighborhoods for roommates or apartments for rent. Former motels frequently do what's called an "efficiency apartment" which is basically a motel room turned into a studio with the addition of a cooktop. Start looking for work. The end.
But sounds like you might want to look into some counseling first.
