Ergh, this. I know when I was a teen, I had a habit of interjecting my fic with certain viewpoints of mine. It was never executed well, and it was always pretty obvious that I was getting on a soapbox. So whenever I see it in other fics, I generally assume that the author is ~14, at least mentally.

I get that it's tempting to espouse your opinions through a medium that will reach several people, but it's really better to just let the story unfold naturally and then have the characters deal with any possible controversial issues in a way you, as the author, think is most fitting. Shoving in controversy just for the sake of putting your opinion out there is just...really sloppy writing.
