Re: Do you prefer long fics or short?
(Anonymous) 2013-04-29 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)At the same time, some of my favorite fics are long ones and if I see that an author I like has started posting something that promises to be long-ish, I'll be over the moon. It helps if I either catch the long fic early-on as it's being posted in installments, or I am able to pace myself and parcel it out over a number of days (provided it is split into chapters - I once started reading what turned out to be a 50,000-word epic that was posted in one big gulp... and I stayed up way later that night than I had expected).
I guess my preference is for longer fics that are posted bit by bit over a period of time because there's just that much more of the awesome fic to love and the anticipation of the next chapter is part of what makes the experience delicious. That said, there are a lot of fairly short one-shots out there that I have loved, too.
