Re: Do you prefer long fics or short?

I'm not really fond of less than 1000k fics although I'll read them sometimes. Generally, if the writing's good, the longer, the better imo. I love me some long fics--it's my high (oooooh, a 100,000 word fic, I'm there giving it a try). I usually end up reading the 1000-2000k word fics by default though b/c those are the most common length ones. What I can't stand is those authors who write those shorties and have a good, intriguing idea, and the fic basically reads as a prologue/beginning/middle/ending, and then that's it. Not even a sequel/prequel planned. They call it complete. Drives me crazy. I learn to avoid those authors. Some shorties are good and feel complete in themselves, but too many don't imo and call for longer stories (even if it's just another 500 or 1000 words). The longer fics also keep entertained for longer so my fave short fic writers have a chance to have written more for me to read while I preoccupied w/reading the longer fic. Win win.
