When I write for myself I keep the fic private unless I feel like having it posted. That's about 99% of myself.

Fanfic is part of social interaction in the fandom.

Why should anyone continue posting their stuff if there is no evidence of anyone reading it? It's not "holding your fics hostage" or whatever that bullshit is.

The readers who say this are entitled. And lazy, imo, when they don't leave any sort of feedback, even if it is to say, I'd like to see more. Especially if the author says any feedback.
