Hee.

SPOILERS

Even though that's probably not the case, as many book readers have realized, from Cat's perspective it still rings true.

no kidding, right? if every book character knew the secrets of the narrative it'd make stories (and discussion of stories) pretty boring. Cat has every right to be upset, not like she KNOWS

More people need to remember things like this about characters in general. They don't necessarily know everything the reader does. I see similar things in Homestuck fandom where people seem to get pissed off that the thirteen-year-olds aren't behaving like adults would.

I really, really hate that phrase. I mean, I know you're not being condescending, but I hear it all the time from book readers (I am too), and it just grates on my nerves.

That, and 'It Is Known'.

I usually go with "You know nothing." 'Cause, yanno, it wasn't like tediously overused in the books themselves.

For srs? "You know nothing, Jon Snow" has to be the most tiresome running joke in the series.

That's why it's funny.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the comment does stand. Whether or not the R+L=J theory is true (which I'm assuming you are hinting at - and I hope, if it is, it isn't as romanticised as fandom makes it)...for Catelyn, she has been lead to believe that Ned *couldn't* stay faithful.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
well, even if you chose to believe that Ned didn't trust Cat enough to tell her certain things, it's still, ya know, his fault that she was put in that situation

(Anonymous) 2013-05-01 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I thought there was some doubts about Jon Snow's real parentage? With in-universe speculations that he mught have been fathered by one of Ned's brothers and fan speculations that he's actually Lyanna Stark's son?

Then again, I'm not in this fandom...
