This might sound like a strange option, but have you considered couch surfing? https://www.couchsurfing.org/ It might be an option to give you a bit of time to get some things sorted out.

Also, in terms of renting you could have a look for places with short rentals - like a three month lease, and then negotiate with the landlord about paying up front. As well, if you have a look at classifieds or things like craigslist in your area there should be people looking for temporary tenants to stay in a room while someone's travelling as well, so that's an option to look into.

Also, like the anon below said, youth hostels are cheaper than motels. They typically they only let you stay a max of two weeks, but nice ones often have free food nights, pin up boards with advertisements for temporary work, access to the internet. Plus chatting with some random backpackers in your room whom you're never going to see again might be cathartic.

If you are enrolled in a course at all sometimes universities have provisions for emergency accommodation for students, but I don't know it that would apply.

Otherwise there might be other charities in your area that even if they don't have a shelter per se, might be able to give you some advice/ help with food/suggest employment opportunities.

If you can hang in there til you can talk to your counselor next week she should be able to put you in contact with people who can help you as well. I really hope you're okay anon, and I definitely care about you after reading this post! Stay safe.

i checked out the couchsurfing website a few months ago and there wasn't really anyone in my area. i couldn't even rent a place like that now if i wanted to, i'm broke from staying at the motel! ironic how i can pay for a motel room that's $900 a month but if i want to stay in an apartment that's $450 a month, i can't because i don't have an income.

no youth motels, like i said to the another anon. craigslist is a waste of time because i only get bites from people who don't live nearby ("i need a place in this city, i don't have a car" doesn't mean "email me if you live 30+ minutes away!")

i'm not in college right now. there's a uni in town i've considered applying to but i still owe my other college. :/ and i can't pony up $10k anytime soon.

afaik, there aren't really other charities in the area but i don't know. there's a good will but i don't know how they can help. i've tried asking salvation army but they'll only help with food, clothes, and the like. there's an employment assistance place but all they can do is suggest that i visit the housing authority for housing assistance, but i already did and the waiting list for single people is really long. i don't know how to ask churches about help and i feel like none of them would take me in because i'm part of the lgbt community.

Regarding the last point... lie.

And seriously, get that leg looked at. Those kinds of problems never get better untreated

i could. but i'm pretty androgynous so a lot of people think i look gay/bi. unless you're talking about something else.

i'd love to since my feet are starting to kill me (i don't know if it's from my awkward gait or what), but... medical bills cost an arm and a leg already. multiple sclerosis is a concern since my paternal grandmother had it and my dad said he was having vision problems associated with it, and according to my other grandmother (mom's mom, she was a nurse), ms can be really hard to diagnose.

If there's reasonable public transport to a place you find on craigslist, I'd say don't be afraid of a commute. Make sure it's safe, but it sounds like a 1/2 trip to the city would be worth it for you to get out of the situation you're in.

Like insanenoodlyguy said, if you're worried about churches, lie - a lie of omission, but still a lie. They shouldn't ask you anything, and if they did it's none of their business. Alternatively, you could look up some lgbt groups as well, since they might have programs to help lgbt youth in trouble (especially if your home problems are connected).

Whatever happens anon, try not to stress too much until you see your counselor next week.
