(Anonymous) 2013-05-02 02:10 am (UTC)(link)Daycare for five days a week, per month, costs more than a month's rent in many places. Most people can't afford that. Also, "work from home" isn't allowed in a lot of office jobs, because benefits are closely tied to hours worked.
